Popular destinations from Charlottesville

OBX. You've probably seen these oval stickers that read OBX on the rear windows of cars while driving around town. OBX is shorthand for the Outer Banks, a popular beach destination in North Carolina that is about 4h30mns driving distance from Charlottesville. Who knows? One day, you may proudly display the OBX oval.

Hilton Head. A small island in South Carolina renowned for its famous golf courses and its resorts. Hilton Head beckons with 12 miles of beach. (Hilton Head rentals).

Wintergreen. The Wintergreen Ski Resort spans 11,000 acres on the eastern slopes of the Blue Ridge Mountains and is only a short 30-45 mns drive from Charlottesville. Slopes range from green for beginners to black diamonds for the advanced skiers or snowboarders. There's also a tubing park where kids are welcome. Wintergreen Adaptive, providing lessons to children and adults with disabilities.

Interestingly enough, folks that live in Charlottesville enjoy going down to the Outer Banks for vacation, while folks living in the Outer Banks come up to Charlottesville and Wintergreen for vacation. Go figure!
