Charlottesville Real Estate AgentsCharlottesville : Real Estate : Agents For a town its size, Charlottesville and the overall Albemarle area has way too many real estate agents. Agent commission in general is down, pressured by the Internet, discount real estate firms, firms that rebate their commissions, and folks that go the for-sale-by-owner (FSBO) route. However, like anything else, the 80/20 (or is 90/10?) rule applies: a minority of the good agents account for most of the real estate transactions. So find the good agents, the ones highly recommended by friends and family. If you come from out of town, interview a couple of agents and see how responsive they are. A good way of meeting an agent is to check out their blog entries. It's very hard to fake a personality after a gazillion articles. Also, you can bet that if an agent maintains an active blog, he or she will be Internet-savvy, and will respond to your emails promptly.
